At age 13 began working as a cook, in mother's restaurant and, at the same time, stepfather's restaurant on the Jersey shore.
Left home at age 15 and lived alone from sophomore year through graduation. Worked as a cook at other restaurants to be self-supporting.
Worked at restaurants throughout the 4 years at Cornell University.
Upon graduation from Cornell, accepted offer from Winegardner-Hammons, Inc., in 1970. Initial position was assistant innkeeper at Holiday Inn downtown.
Promoted to innkeeper at Holiday Inn - Northeast. Later promoted to innkeeper at Holiday Inns Riverfront, Downtown, South and North. Later promoted to Regional Director of all 7 Greater Cincinnati Holiday Inns.
Left Winegardner-Hammons in 1981 to open the Precinct.
